[AZ-Observing] Re: Observing in the Rodeo burn area

On July 4th I went to inspect my lot in Pinedale Estates(pretty much ground
zero for the Rodeo fire)and optimistically I took along a telescope. Well
the fire was bad, but not as bad as the news reports made out. Lots of
burned forest, but the fire skipped around so no large burned out areas.
Only the dry grass was burned on my lot! So I was able to set up and observe
until moonrise. No smoke or smell of burning either. Transparency was 8-9,
great! So lots of good observing. The only minus was the mention of hungry
roaming bears by one of my neighbors, so I was looking over my shoulder more
than I like to admit. And I actually got cold, a big plus!
