[AZ-Observing] Observing Notes from Friday Night

Well, work on Friday and prior dinner plans Saturday kept me from being able
to join folks at "5 Mile Meadow." I was able to get out to Antelope Park late
Friday for some observing, however. It was short two-hour session and the four
targets included three old friends, the Veil nebula, NGC 7008 and the Helix.
The fourth object was nebulosity associated with the Veil that I've not been
able to find an identification for.
Of course the major components of the Veil nebula include NGC 6960, a 60'x9'
lick of flame oriented north-south just to the east of 52 Cygni, and NGC 6992
(=NGC 6995, IC 1340), an arcing feathery 80'x30' form 2.5 degrees east of NGC
6960. The other nebulous patch I observed Friday lies between the two major
portions, centered roughly at 20h 48.4m, +31d 35m.

This portion of the supernova remnant appears in most wide field photos of
the Veil, including several in Burnham's Celestial Handbook. It's featured in a
photo on page 806; stands out prominently in a photo on 800; and is presented
in much the same way as it appears in my 10-inch in the photo on page 809.

Does anyone know of an ID for this patch of nebulosity?

Regards,

Bill in Flagstaff
