[AZ-Observing] Re: Observing Conditions up here

Hello Stan,

I was observing last night. First time this season. It was a grand
night, but hot here in Phoenix. At 21:30 it was 102 F in the
observatory. The imaging equipment worked fine, but my LX200 GPS was
acting up. The GPS would not lock on and the controls were very
flaky. Also the hand box controller died a couple of times and I had
to reset things. After about an hour things settled down and worked
fine. I got some UBVRI CCD data on SZ Herculis. Yes that's right I
got some U band data, but it is very weak. I was surprised. I have
nearly a dozen people interested in the Mentor project plus the Meade
DSI list has expressed interest in a CCD Photometry
Mentor/Certification project.

I hope you can get some photometric images of SZ Her. The 12th is
slated as the next favorable time for the eclipse, but getting some
preliminary data is always good.

Good luck.

Jeff
