I met Gene back in '78 shortly after I moved here from Green Bay. Was at
a PAS event at Keith Parizek's observatory in PV. Spoke to our club on
many occasions, as well as once at DFAC up here in New River / Anthem.
One of the smartest guys I ever met, and I know a LOT of geeks. I
remember him most for having an opinion on just about everything ... not
always one I agreed with, but always well thought-out and expressed. He

I received word today of the passing of Gene Lucas. Gene was a founding
member of SAC back in the late '70s. I spoke to his nephew, Joel Lucas
who told me Gene passed away on December 8th. Arrangements are not
finalized at this time. Joel said he would share those details with the
local astronomy community when they are known.
