[AZ-Observing] Re: NGC 6712

I accidentally trashed AJ's message and so I cannot compare what I saw
with what he described. I just now observed NGC 6712. I immediately
noticed the dark vein when I got the globular in the field of view
although the more one looks at it, the more easy it seems to not be able
to see it. It showed up best in my 32 mm erfle (148x). The dark vein is
on the east side of the globular and appears to run from the northeast
to the southwest (if I did not get confused with my telescope
directions). I find the three veined asterism in M13 much easier to see
and can see this 'peace sign' everytime I look at it. I discovered that
although the asterism of M13 is easier to see (for me) the dark veins
appear to be lighter (and wider) than the dark vein running through NGC
6712.
