Richard, one of the things Steve Coe and I have done when reconitering a
new observing location is to study maps of the area. Highway maps and
maps done by the USGS, I believe, are good sources.
After reviewing the maps then leave very early in the day and go
explore.
I realize there isn't that much in the way of roads to explore on Mt.
Graham but it pays, it always pays, to do your homework first. I belive
that luck favours the well prepared and map study prepares you.
Hope this helps,
aj
