[AZ-Observing] Re: More weather balloon

Ditto. I just finished watching the news on channel 10 after watching 24 and
they did not even know what it was.
Tom you are amazing.

I got a call from Frank Kraljic, who told me where to look, asking, "what
is that thing?" It was at least as bright as Venus about 15 minutes after
sunset. We took a look from the front yard. I was impressed by how white
it appeared, with a glint on the west side, and the payload visible at 50x
in a little refractor.

There's a nice, real-time plot off its path here. It was between Prescott
and Kingman at sunset, at an elevation of 108,000 feet, moving at about a
half mile per hour.

"NCT" stands for Nuclear Compton Telescope. So it's no weather balloon.
Here's some information about it from a Berkeley site.

Should have added - almost directly overhead.

Just spotted the balloon in North Phoenix - very briefly. I was lucky
to see it at all given the clouds. Seems much lower than those I've
seen in the past.

I should have added that it is about 25 degrees off the horizon at about

12:35pm MST. It appears to be slowly moving to the west over the past
couple
of hours.
