In case a miracle happens and it's clear tomorrow morning, there may be a
good opportunity to spot Mars with unaided vision. It will be very close
to the moon in morning twilight. You should be able to make a note of its
position relative to the moon (clock position and number of moon
diameters), and then offset to see Mars after sunrise.
I plan to put the Telrad on Mars just before sunrise, and then let the
scope track on it through sunrise. Then I will see if Mars is visible
through the Telrad rings. At least in my rulebook, this method does not
constitute cheating.
Unfortunately, with the leading edge of Claudette's clouds already
approaching the AZ/NM border, I don't think clear weather is very likely
15 hours from now.
