[AZ-Observing] Re: Lunt Solar Systems in Tucson

Tom;

It appears that the purchase of the refractor is only the start, a =
special
diagonal is also needed to complete the system. So the price goes up as =
you
choose a filter and then this special blocking diagonal. At least, that =
is
the way I read it.

I think I will stay with my Baader filter for white light views for a =
while.
Not much to see anyway for the next year or so until we start really
climbing back toward solar max.

Take Care;
Steve Coe

Subject: [AZ-Observing] Lunt Solar Systems in Tucson

I noticed that Coronado and Daystar will have some competition in the
Hydrogen-alpha solar filter and telescope business soon. Lunt Solar =
Systems
has a line of products whose pricing appears to be competitive with
Coronado. David Lunt is the late owner of Coronado Filters, so I am
guessing that Andrew Lunt is his son. Anybody have more details?

One major difference with Coronado is that their etalons do not require =
a
central obstruction for mounting. It will be interesting to see hom =
much of
an impact this has on contrast. An 8" f/6 Newtonian H-alpha telescope
should also be interesting!
