[AZ-Observing] Re: Looking for a tripod...

I have a brand-new Ioptron Minimount that cost me over $800. I was hoping to
mount my 6" Intes Mak-Newt on it, but the tube is just too long and hits the
tripod legs. It handles the weight just fine, but the long tube also results
in a few seconds of wiggle if you mess with the eyepiece end. It was apparently
designed for refractors and will handle side by side refractors with ease. The
GOTO is easy and dead-on. Tracks perfectly. It sets up with its own GPS in
about 5 minutes. it fits in a small carry-case box plus very nice tripod legs.
I'll eat $200 and sell it to anyone for $600 if they come pick it up in NE Mesa.

Subject: [AZ-Observing] Looking for a tripod...

I'm in need of a light duty tripod for a side-by-side alt-az mount
which will hold a couple of small refractors. Before buying a new one,
I thought I'd check to see if someone in the valley might have one
that's no longer being used. A good candidate would be the tripod which
came with a starter telescope. I'd prefer aluminum, but any reasonably
sturdy tripod which can fold to fit in my car would do.

If you have such a thing and you're willing to part with it for a
nominal sum, let me know. Thanks,
