Stan,
Please note: the Vekol count was not scientific, nor what is recommended
for reporting by the Int'l Meteor Org. at www.imo.net .
The Vekol Leonids count was conducted by beginning at zero at the start of
every hour according to Greenwich time ticks. At each inter-hour interval
the count was noted, but continued. The Hourly Rate Change is determined by
subtracting the prior interval meteor count, divided by the change in time
(minutes) interval, and multiplying by 60 to get the hourly rate for that
short time period. Example: 12:30 count was 22 observed meteors from the
beginning of the hour minus the 12:19 count of 9 observed meteors from the
beginning of the hour equals 13 divided by the time difference of 11 minutes
times 60 equals 71 per hour rate. The Cumulative Hourly Rate uses the same
formula, but subtracts to the beginning of the hour. The Cumulative Hourly
Rate has 22 observed for the first 30 minutes for 44 per hour rate.
