I did a quick look at Ursa Minor and could only see the Guardian stars, from
my previous post:

"I guesstimated the limiting magnitude (for my old eyes) at about 4. Using
the nomogram in the November Sky & Tel, it would indicate that we would see
about 5% of the local ZHR. That would place the ZHR at about 3360 for our
location, during the peak period."

This doesn't take into account the extinction of the bowl of the little
dipper. That's more arithmetic
than I feel like doing for free.

I didn't mention before how still the sky was for the hour we were
observing. I noticed that there was
almost no twinkling of the stars.

Maybe Lowell should just forget Happy Jack and plunk their new observing
station here in metro
Peoria...ok, maybe not.

Clear skies,
Joe
