[AZ-Observing] Re: KOFA Site report-initial thoughts

We were able to see the gegenschein at about 11pm quite well between the sickle
of Leo and the Beehive. The zodiacal light was positively annoying. The winter
Milky Way was horiz to horiz and the Rosette sprung out with a UHC filter held
up to the naked eye. It was quite windy at sunset Saturday and died down quite
a bit by 9. It helped to block it with the truck and observe from the leeward
side. The site is 115 mi from my house in N Phx compared with 106 for Sentinel,
but it eliminates going down SR85.

Anyway, why the bible quote at the end of your message? I looked up Matt 33:33
and it doesn't go that high, only to Matt 28:20, which does mention something
about observing though. :-)

Hello all,

I spent Friday night at Kofa and I can report that it is quite dark
with a low Phx light dome to the east. Conditions were good until it got
WINDY at around 2:30am and shut us down for the night. AJ, Steve, and
Jack should still be there.

A tip about finding the site: at about 8 miles south on the road in,
there is an intersection of sorts with a power line access road, DO NOT
turn left on this road--keep going straight for between 1 and 2 tenths
and then look to the left about 75 yards off the road.
