[AZ-Observing] Re: Jennifer's confluence info please

Checking the Digitized Sky Survey shows the Confluence centered at 18h 13m
38s RA, -18d 49m 00s Dec. If anyone wants a picture of it (it shows up
nicely!), send an email off list and I'll include it as an attachment.

Steve,

I sat down with SkyMap, and with Mr. Polakis' help located the asterism. I
created quick catalogue object around it and the coords I got are slightly
different. Possibly due to the Epoch? When I first plunked the cursor on it
to get the coords they were off a bit and I think that's because the
coordinates of the cursor are based on epoch of the date vs. J2000. Anyway,
here's what I got (Note: J2000 coords. at the bottom):

Information about Polakis 1
Basic Information
Size: 12.0'x12.0'

Apparent RA: 18h 14m 02.3s
Apparent Dec: -18° 49' 57"

Howdy all;

Here is the data I entered for Jenn's Confluence, if anyone has changes, let
me know. I used the designator "h" for the multiple star because this is
the designation used in the SAC double star database. What I am posting the
"fence" version the other two versions are identical.

|Jenn's Confluence     |SGR|18 13.4|-18 47| 8  |15'        |15 | 7 |The

Notes

I look forward to an evening when we can all gather round the telescopes and
enjoy a view of this new asterism.

That ought to do it;

Importance: High

Here's a correction to the RA that Tom Mozden just notified me of, it should

read RA 18h, NOT 8h--it was a typo in the July-August French Astronomie
magazine as well--at least in the pages that the author sent me. I changed
it in my email below as well.
Thanks,
Jennifer
