Hello all,
Any obsessed/brave/crazy/stupid people looking
to go out tonight (weather permitting, of course)?
My redesigned telescope/lightning rod is ready for
first light (perhaps that is the problem). EE or
Flatiron is OK until 1 am or so for me (have to work
in the am).
This having to work thing has me thinking (I know, a dangerous thing):
Why aren't amateur astronomers like us endowed by the government
with a lifetime stipend of say, $100K/yr so we can pursue
our hobby unimpeded by the crass pursuit of material
wealth? It is unfair, and perhaps discriminatory, that we
do not have the right to observe whenever we wish . . .
That's it, I am writing my congressman . . .
Matt
