[AZ-Observing] Re: Goto Declaration on MM Award

It is clear that GOTO will be allowed in the marathon. I add my vote to
those that argue that it should be declared on the award, aided or
manual. Just a field in the entry form next to the type of scope used
and one word on the certificate. Don't make it any more difficult than that.

While I personally believe that GOTO does remove the challenge of a
marathon I have listened with some favor to those who make the valid
argument that GOTO has aided our hobby to a great extent. I am using
the DSC's on my 18" for the H400 and they are probably the only reason I
can get over 20 objects in a good night and be sure I am on the correct
object. I spend the time appreciating and drawing the object, not
finding it.

My 110 was done with a 6" RFT, a telrad, and a chart, ...nothing else,
well I remember using my binos for a few objects, 45, 44, 24,... I am
seriously considering doing 2003 with a 90mm APO, something to make it a
challenge, what do you do after scoring 110? Binos? Either that or just
bring the 18" and work on my H400, but the thrill of a marathon is a
hard temptation to ignore, too much fun.
