[AZ-Observing] Re: Good Sentinel this weekend

Yes it was spectacular, here is a picture I took of it and its close galaxy
this weekend from Southern AZ.

Jeff,

Omega Cent was pretty spectacular in the 14.25" on Friday night.
Curiously, it was better at "low" power (100x), exhibiting a 3-D
appearance through a 26 Nagler that I have not noticed in the two other
times I have viewed this object. I also noted that hundreds of stars
were resolved across the core, giving a granularity to the view that is
new to me. In spite of its size, I get the feeling that this object begs
for aperture (well, what object doesn't!). I wonder if you could see the
variations in star color in a really big scope: blue-ish in the central
area, yellow-orange in the outer zones. . . Has anyone seen this?

BTW, Centaurus A was really nice on Friday as well, its dark lanes very
prominent against the background glow of the galaxy itself. I noted a
little structure in the outer "edges" of the dark banding, something I
have seen only in Paul Alsing's 20" Obsession at last year's SSSG.

I see an Australian vacation in my future, with these objects overhead .
. .

Matt
