[AZ-Observing] Re: Good Sentinel this weekend

I enjoyed the Saturday night observing. While Sentinel is close or
below sea level and that's a whole lot of atmosphere to go through,
it certain is a a lovely location and very dark. Also, as we get
further toward summer that is going to be hotter than blazes even at
night.

Before the clouds rolled in I got a spectacular view of M13. M51
(with the help of Sheryl Gambordella who also helped me find M1 -
she's a real pro with the M objects).

During a brief break in the clouds to the south I got a glimpse of
Omega Centauri (Burnham says it's "The finest example of a globular
cluster in the heavens and one of the most magnificent objects
within the range of the telescope.") with my 13.1" DOB. The first
time I saw Omega Centauri was at my cabin (7,500') and was completely
blown away by it. Saturday's view was very low on the horizon with
some clouds in the way so not as spectacular.

I found the sky rather poor, however there were breaks when it became
very clear. I suspect there were some high thin clouds along with the
heavy ones.

I took a couple of dozen digital photos Saturday and will post on my
web site shortly. I took a couple after dark on a tripod and they
came out surprisingly well. It was pretty dark. I used a Nikon
Coolpix 800. I'll drop a note when the pictures are on the site.
