[AZ-Observing] Re: Good Sentinel this weekend

Matt,

NGC 4762 is one of my favorite edge-on galaxies. The galaxy's inclination
is almost perfectly 90 degrees to the "plane of the sky." There's no dust
lane, though. Take a look at a Sky Survey image. I have to admit that I
convinced myself I was seeing a dust lane the first time I saw it with my
13-inch. Here are my abbreviated notes:

"! Bright, 6'x1' p.a. 30 deg., very bright core with well-defined
extensions. There is a very thin dust lane apparent on the WNW edge away
from the core. 10th mag. stars lie at 3' p.a. 105 deg and 3' p.a. 215 deg.
A mag. 11 star is just E of the SSW end. A small galaxy is 9' away in
p.a. 315 deg."

After learning that there is a striking lack of a dust lane, I looked at
again, and realized that I was adding hopeful detail to the galaxy.
