[AZ-Observing] Re: Fw: [EVAC ONLINE] EVAC OT Photomark

I had the opportunity to go to Photomark today at lunch time and meet
Jack Pickrell and Eric Maus - both representing photographic sales at
Photomark. They explained to me how Meade has been very cooperative
with them through regular visits and their support to provide a
telescope seminar this August 23rd from 9-10am. Celestron on the other
hand has not provided the level of support that Meade has. Eric said
they want to grow Photomark's presence in the astronomy field beyond
where they are today which consists of 4 telescopes on display and a few
accessories in the glass cabinet. Currently they have a Meade
Lightbridge, a Meade reflector and a Celstron Nextar SCT on display.
They were interested to hear what astronomy items were the most in
demand so I suggested they review some of the larger websites to review
their best sellers. Jack mentioned their intent to start stocking some
eyepieces also. I closed my visit with them by stating that they might
hear from some of the officers from our local clubs.

By the way, for those that have not been there, Photomark is one heck of
a photography supply store. They have an extensive inventory of used
equipment at very good prices as well as new and rental equipment.

Dan, keep us posted with your findings. I hope others that show up will
do
the same.

AJ et al,

No kidding. It seems not that long ago we had several astronomy stores
in
Phoenix. I will forward this notice to our members (all 18 of them :)
and
urge them to visit and support the new lines at Photomark. I'll be in
town
later this week and check them out personally. It would be great for
Photomark to succeed with this. Thanks for the heads up.

possibilities. I have never been to Photomark so can't make any
comments
about that. Anyone have any comments?

McDowell. They have just started to sell telescopes with Meade and
Celestron. They are trying to make it work, I told them they should
contact
EVAC to advertise. Is there a way to outreach to them, or put a note in
the
next newsletter? They are going to have a Meade rep there on Aug 23rd
to do
a short seminar in what to look for in buying a scope

that we could support. I don't really regard Photon Instruments all
that
well, and driving down to Starizona or Oceanside gets old.
