[AZ-Observing] Re: Friday Night Observing

Exit I-10 west at Hovatter road (about 100 miles west of the US60/I-10
interchange)

Go North (that's a right turn for the directionally challenged)

You will travel between 1.8 and 1.9 miles and then see a "road" that branches
off the the left (west) at an angle, last time I was there there was a yellow
"Unimproved Road" sign.

Travel west until you get to a fence opening with a cattle guard (1 to 2 miles
I think), Watch for any washed out areas, they are not deep but if you get
suckered into driving quickly you can get suprised and damage something. I
have been hauling the tent trailer behind the turbo volvo in there for years
and never had a problem. I have not recorded the exact distance).

Turn north (right) and follow the scraped path north about half a mile. If you
get to the place where the fence jogs back to the east you are just past or
even to where people set up. This is the only part of the drive where you will
need to exercise extreme care as there are sometimes large rock in the path. I
generally stop and pick them out as I go in.

If you are arriving after dark, tap the horn a couple of times and one of us
will walk over to the "road" and intercept you.

We set up 50-60 feet to the west of this "road"

Cell phone coverage (at least for us Verizon users) is excellent I can be
reached at 602-717-0171 I am driving a white GMC Safari Van and the tent
trailer.
