Tom;
Some good photos of folks and scopes and birds. It was a lot of fun
watching several owls sit in a tree on Friday afternoon. I did realize that
the RFT refractor also does a great job for looking at birds. Upside down,
of course;-)
Yes, the logistics of a location that will allow the family sedan to get
there and room enough for a possible 30 or 40 people does limit the choices.
However, after having two good observing sessions at this location I am
convinced that it is about as good as a large spot in the Rim Country is
going to get for a well attended sized star party.
We have always said that the good news about SAC, and it also seems to apply
to EVAC, is that if you will set up something for them to do, they will
come! Now that the word is out, if the weather will allow a good September
10-11 observing session from here we will see how many decide that a long
drive up into the mountains is worth it, if you come prepared.
Lots of fun;
Steve Coe
