I read an editorial this morning in the AZ Republic re: the addition of
lighted billboards along our highways included in the SB1138. The editorial
was against the lighted billboards amendment in SB1138, however we should
start our campaign to kill this amendment.
As stated they are a menace to dark sky's and safety on the highways.
Billboards like these were outlawed years ago, not so much for the dark sky
aspect as keeping our roads beautiful and clutter free. Get the e-mails
rolling!!
Mike

RE: SB 1218 Light PollutionI just received this message; don't know how many
others received it also. The amendment to SB1138 appears to permit lighted
outdoor message boards along highways. These things are a menace to dark
skies. I am writing to the members of the appropriations committee. The
more emails they get the better.

William R Wood,
Watch out! SB1138 has a strike-everything amendment from the outdoor
advertising industry. It is scheduled to be in Appropriations on Thursday at
1:30PM. Roll out your forces.
Check the website to see if any of your legislators are on the
appropriations committee (www.azleg.state.az.us)
Best regards,
Ted Downing
