[AZ-Observing] Re: Comet NEAT from Wupatki

Bill -

Tom Mozdzen, his wife Barb, and I took a short drive Friday night southwest
from Chandler, arriving approx 10pm to a spot about 8 miles south of the
Casino on Maricopa road (10 miles or so NE from the Vekol site) in a
marginally-dark agricultural area with lots of dust. Nonetheless, the view
through Tom's image-stabilized Canon binos (I believe they're 10X30's)
showed a stunning view of both NEAT and the Beehive. I'd estimate we saw
an ion tail of 3 degrees through the binos but we also noticed about one
degree of the SSE arc shown in your drawing from Wupatki. Nice to know
someone in darker, cleaner skies could confirm what we only had a hint at
seeing.

Thx,
Bernie in Gilbert
