As a side note if you go to http://www.amug.org/~hposoft you will see a
thumbnail of M42. While I'm sure you have had your fill of M42 images I
was rather surprised how well this came out. I used a Nikon Coolpix 800
digital camera set for ASA 400 and infinity focus with a 26 mm eyepiece
and a C-8. The Nikon takes a max exposure of 8 seconds (no control). The
big problem with that has been there is no means to add a shutter release
and manual clicking creates severe jiggle. I managed to devise a kludge
that seems to work using a bent piece of aluminum and two rubber bands. A
small hole for the shutter right over it allows the shutter cable to be
added. Most pictures still show jiggle, but this one didn't.
BTW, I could not find Comet NEAT tonight (too low from my location).
