Several items gleaned from the Comets Mailing List (http://groups.yahoo.
com/group/comets-ml/):
- Jose Pablo Navarro Pina of Spain used visual magnitude estimates to
update the maximum brightness of the comet. It is running a little
brighter than the original predictions. This means it should reach +3.4
in mid-January rather than +4.1. His extrapolation assumes the comet is
going to behave itself.

- Recently discovered comet C/2004 V4 (NEAT) will be superposed on the
coma of Comet Machholz on January 1. The minimum separation is 2.3' at
17h UT (10:00 a.m. MST). The bad news is that the fainter comet will be
magnitude 17!
