This afternoon I bought a pair of boots for $70 at Big 5 Sports. They 
are made by Kamik. I just discovered in the bottom of the box that they 
have a thermal rating of -58F, although looking at them it does not seem 
possible that they can be rated that low. Will this be too low? I'm not 
too sure how accurate these ratings are for different people. For 
example, about 10-15 years I bought my Slumberjack sleeping bag which is 
rated at +0F. For years after I got it it really had to be very cold or 
otherwise I would get too hot. Now at my older age this is no longer a 
problem. Does anyone have any experience with boots rated this low? 
Maybe it would be better to get something rated at around -22F or even 
-4F and put up with ones feet being a little cold at times or adding 
wool socks. If it is true that I might sweat like crazy in these boots 
with a rating of -58F it would probably not be long before I would have 
to throw them out because of odor.
