[AZ-Observing] Re: Cherry road

i don't have a lot to add to rick, a.j., and thad's reports but i can
say i bagged more messier's (and a few accidental ngc's) in this one
night at cherry than i did in 2-3 star parties combined when i lived
in oregon. i viewed with an 8" dob w/ dob-driver II tracker. it was
nice comparing notes with a.j. whom had purchased an equitoral
platform for tracking. we had both considered buying the other.

good turn-out and good comradery. a.j. treated us to a really nice
view of the swan and trifid nebulas in his 14" dob (or is it 14.5"?).

oh, and the milky way "clouds" were just spectacular to look at with
the naked eye. every time i looked up towards the zenith that night,
i was sure there was a cloud hanging in the sky. the dark lane down
the middle was quite prominent due to the contrast.

i assume the folks that left early (thad mentioned), with no warning,
are on the observing list since they showed up at the sight. it would
be nice to have an apology, from them, to the group that was out
there. they were nice enough folks but left in a rush at 11pm or so,
with no warning, headlights glaring.

i had a great night, and made several new friends as this was my first
star party since moving back to arizona. thanks to all that showed
up.

(oh yes, and thanks to all who searching with me, in the dark, for the
barlow i dropped. i found it later.)
