Well George if I was Stuck with a $150.00 dollar fine for being in a place I
was not supposed to be. I would call it the wrath of one of the arms of the
Federal Bureaucracy. What are you going to do. fight it in a court of law
after you have spent $5000.00 for a lawyer for a $150.00 dollar fine then the
Judge out of spite decides to raise the fine for wasting his time. How about
ascertaining our legal status first so we avoid those kinds of problems in the
1st place. And BTW it really is not a Govt by the people and for the people
it seized being that more than 50 years ago. The Gov't can now take your
property and can incarcerate you for no good reason at all. Why give the Govt
any
more amunition to use against you than they already have. It may come down to
someday that if you want to go out and observe with a telescope you are
going to have to do it on someones property more than likey your own property
because the Gov't lands will be off limits. This is why we ascertain whether
or
not 5 mile meadow is going to be open this weekend or not. Just becasue lands
are listed as federal or BLM land Public lands are not free just to go out
on and do what ever you want to do, you need to get permission especially if
its a large group such as ours.

My only suggestion is to return to the initial frame of mind we had in
finding our early dark sky sites. It is getting harder and harder to find
and maintain good dark sky sites. Blaming the government and other negative
comments only proves to add to the problem. I meant no disrespect to anyone
on this forum. I'm just sensitive to allogations against the government,
and anyone - ref the text: "the wrath of some federal bureaucracy?" The
government is made up of people like you and me. It is simple in my mind,
either do something, run for office or stop complaining.
