For the record, I never suggested bringing a firearm to a star party.
Did anyone suggest this? My discussion was strictly on being out
completely alone.

This brings to mind a star party in California Gerry Rattly told me
about. If I recall correctly, at one star party in the middle of the
field was a mountain lion that was laying down. No one noticed it except
him. Apparently, the mtn lion knew it was outnumbered and so it was just
probably enjoying the strange scene of equipment and two legged animals
apparently glued to one end of these barrel like objects. Or, maybe it
was just waiting for one of them to wonder off to do its business in the
bushes and then to pounce on it.
