Joe,
These may not be your ordinary campers, but instead lepidopterists. A
lot of people who collect moths set up mercury vapor lights to attract
them. They also will set up lights that emit different wave lengths
because different wave lengths attract different moths. We are in the
monsoon season and mothing is really hopping now. In southern Arizona
they have been having an outbreak of a supposed 'rare' green sphinx moth.
