[AZ-Observing] Re: Bad Wknd for Okie-Tex

Well, it wasn't my 25 and shroud... it escaped unscathed.
I left just after the swap meet on Saturday afternoon, under a cloudy sky.
I'm told it did clear up in the evening, but the dew would have made it an
early night for me again (as I have no dew gear). In the words of John
Cleese, "not much call for it 'round here."
Thursday night the dew chased me into the sleeping bag just before 5:00 am,
in what was the only night I got in any real observing.

Off the Obsession Yahoo Group:

>Apparently there was a 75 mile per hour gale that hit
Okie-Tex this morning (Fri) damaging tents and campers.

Many tents were destroyed, the bunkhouses were packed as a result! Several
others left early, as their tents were uninhabitable. I was able to patch
mine together with bungees, duct tape and a blue tarp - but it goes into the
dumpster Sunday morning.

The folks here are an amazing group, helping each other out and maintaining
high spirits. It cleared out a bit after 5 AM this morning, so I got a
little
observing in. Tonight promises to be pretty clear - of course, we face the
long drive home tomorrow!

Several people have left already; but I figure it just improves the odds in
the Great Okie-Tex Giveaway for those of us who stuck it out.
