Howdy all;
Jeremy Perez and I had a pretty decent night at the Anderson Mesa sight
about 25 miles from Flagstaff. The clouds cleared off by 9:30 or so and
it got better as the night progressed. Jeremy did a nice sketch of M 101
and I did some observing in Corvus and Crater. We compared some eyepieces
and spent a little time on Saturn at 250X and the seeing was 6/10, so
there was some good detail to be seen.
In twilight Brian Skiff stopped by on him way to work at the observatory
station, determining the rotation rates of asteroids. I think he was
using the 30 inch(?) to do that. It was nice to visit with Brian for a
while, I had not seen him in many years.
I am going to move the RV today from the campground in Flagstaff and I
will be at 5 Mile Meadow until Wednesday. Then I will drive down to
Congress, park the motorhome and get with David Fredericksen for the trip
to Riverside.
Clear skies to us all;
Steve Coe
