Jeff,
I agree that a dark sky site is needed to view the comet in it's present
state... Several of us observed the comet from the Vekol Road site on
Saturday and it was indeed extremely faint. I was only able to locate it by
meticulously star hopping to its precise location followed by verification
of field stars. Only then was I able to detect the faint extended glow of
the comet (listed at ~mag 10) in my 5.7" Mak-Newt. The comet was more easily
observed by others that night using Newtonians with apertures of 10" and
14.5" and certainly appeared a little brighter in those scopes but was still
generally described as faint and featureless.
