     As I noted previously, "but YES!"  This particular object was
recovered within 24 hours of the discovery (by LINEAR, who found it
in the first place).  The reason it took as long as that is because of
the bogus finding ephemeris published by the Minor Planet Center---
otherwise it would have been picked up within 12 hours or less by amateurs.
     If you look at lists that show near-Earth objects that are in need
of observation, you'll find that their number is "none", since essentially
all that are even remotely bright enough get followed throughout their
apparitions.
