Yeah, the sky is offset about 3.5 degrees downward in that shot to
allow foreground blurring to be tucked away. Shooting directly south
was a really bad idea in retrospect--not to mention shooting on a
night when the dome shutters were closed =)
The Duriscoes' photo has really got me itching to get out and get some
more night sky/landscape photos around these parts. It might be
interesting to get one or two where Flagstaff proper is in the frame
to see how well contained the light dome is in comparison to the
surrounding deep sky.
