It's true. I circulated that photo to the School of Earth and Space
Exploration the day Jon Posted it. People responded with amazement and
appreciation. It is clearly more spectacular than the Hubble photo. One chap
unaware of what a dedicated amateur can do with a modest aperture appeared to
be in denial. He will need to get over it. Seeing is believing!
I absolutely love this photo. I also think Jon's photo of the Orion nebula is
one of the best ever; the "trapezium toward one side of a cavity in a molecular
cloud" aspect comes through beautifully.
Way to go, Jon!

What's perhaps even more interesting to us here in the Phoenix area, is
that the photons used for this image were captured nearby, at the Vekol
Road observing area. (Re: Jon Christensen, message posted on
Az-observing 04-30-09).
Comments from someone at ASU suggested they thought that Jon had
possibly "superimposed" his photo onto a Hubble Space Telescope image!
(Which of course it most certainly was NOT !)
Congrats and compliments to Jon on his fine work and perseverance. (The
image represents a total of 580 minutes exposure time!)
