<USS Avalon> Wrong Shoes

**Time Note: This happens before Melanie takes off for the TL
Wrong Shoes
by Senior Lieutenant Anthony Manson and Junior Lieutenant Melanie Redgrave
He walked into Alder's quarters and hadn't even taken notice that he sat on
the couch waiting for him. It wasn't until Alder got up and got in the way of
Anthony did he realize Alder's presence. "Hey," he simply stated as he moved
out of his way and looked under their bed.
"We need to talk," Alder said arms crossed.
"Could this wait? I'm in a bit of a rush."

"No. Anthony, explain this, and this.. oh and this chip."

Anthony didn't look up as he searched the underside of his bed. He reached
his arm in and felt a pair of soft shoes. He pulled them out and quickly rushed
to the exit. "We'll talk, but I have to get going right now."

The doors wisped closed as Anthony rushed to the Forensics Lab. The newly
promoted Lieutenant Redgrave wasn't going to wait any further and it had been
nearly an hour past the end of alpha shift.

He entered the Forensics Lab, shoes in hand as he raised them for Redgrave
to see, "One pair of soft soled shoes. Durvan crafted," he said and gestured
for her to take it.

Melanie looked up from her microscope and smiled warming at Anthony. "Thank
you for being so prompt, Mister Manson."

She reached out and took the shoes that Anthony was offering her and quickly
flipped them over. She examined the bottom carefully on both and then each
of them signally. There was no missing bit on either sole. She then walked
them over to one of the tables, where she picked up a spray bottle and squirted

the bottoms before placing them under a scanner.

"I hope you understand that I'm just making sure there are no loopholes in
the case, Lieutenant." She said as she looked at him for the moment it took
scan the shoes. The machine behind her beeped and she read the results before
picking up the shoes and handing them back to Anthony. "These aren't the ones
I'm looking for."

Anthony gave a sigh of relief, able to feel the stress lessening. "It's been
a.. hectic few days, Miss Redgrave." He reached over as Melanie gave the
shoes back to him. He looked at her, "if there's anything else?"

"No. It's clear you didn't go do it. Thank you for your cooperation, Mister.
Manson." Melanie gave a nod as Anthony headed out.
