<USS Avalon> Welcome To Medical

Welcome to Medical
a Joint Log between El-Kainah Ngaio and Felicity Roan

Felicity walked into her office and medical and was immediately struck
by a large pile of PADDs waiting on her of various colors, sizes and
containing information for her review and attention. She could only sigh in
disbelief
and sat down to begin the process.

Among the PADDs was the notification that three medical officers would
be joining her. One El-Kainah Ngaio, Ral Dikkon and a Varian Draal. She was
happy to see that Lt. Lewis and she would get some much needed assistance and
quietly said a thank you to the Captain for ensuring her department was
better staffed. She took a moment to review each crewman's file for their
specialties and points of interest.

El walked in to the medical bay with his lab coat over his arm. A few
of his braids had come around his neck and hung over his shoulder to his
abdomen. He absently brushed it back so it was hanging down his back again.
The
beads clicked together as he walked. They always had. He had had the braids
as long as he could remember.

He had found it a little strange that he was posted to medical, since
his real interest was in forensics. Perhaps he would be assigned there as
well. He was looking around the reception area when he spotted who he presumed
was the chief medical officer approaching him.

Felicity was impressed by what she saw in their credentials and thought she
spied one of them outside and rose to introduce herself. "Good afternoon
Ensign Ngaio, is it? I am Felicity Roan, Welcome aboard. We are pleased to
have
you join our ranks. I must apologize for not having a warmer reception
prepared. I only received the notification you were coming aboard a few
moments ago.
I trust your journey to the Avalon was a good one?"

El watched her come closer and extended his hand to her. "Yes, thank
you. It is a pleasure to meet you." He was able to detect that she was
genuinely pleased to have him there as well as having a welcoming affect about
her.
"Not much of a journey really. I have been on Earth for a little while now.
I haven't been to the planet where I did some of my growing up in a long
time." The truth was he didn't really want to go back to that place. His
parents, his adoptive parents, didn't even live there any more. They had moved
to
the colony on Titan, one of Jupiter's moons, after the end of the Dominion war.

He was looking around a bit. Trying to get a feel for the place. "I
am happy to be here though." he said. He was nervous and it wouldn't take a
telepath to notice that.

Felicity nodded as he spoken, paying attention he hadn't said where
home was by name, but glossed onward, remembering the work that awaited. "Let
me show you around. Obviously, this is the main treatment area." Motioning
just behind him, "That is our assessment area," pointing behind her, "that is
the isolation area." Pointing off to her left, "That is the surgical ward and
to the right of us is the equipment and storage areas." She looked at his PADD
of data again, "I think that since you've been on Earth already we can skip
the prelim boarding physical and you can set about seeing to the duties of the
day. At some point, you'll need to report in to Captain Ketchum or Commander
Skyler and I believe that Counselor McKinsley will want to say hello. Our
department is, thankfully, not one that requires high-touch on most missions,
although, we strive to be at the ready as situations occur. The health and
safety of the crew is our paramount mission. I know that sounds pretty stuffy,
but
it's pretty much the truth." Felicity sighed, realizing that she'd probably
said 10 minutes worth of information in 5. "Do you have any questions?"

"I'll do my best Sir. I'm sure I will learn a lot while I am here."
He smiled a bit such that his black eyes almost sparkled in the bright light
of the medical bay.

"Again, welcome aboard Ensign. I'll be in my office awaiting the
other two crewman that are to join us and trying to wade though my work. If
you
need anything, let me know." Felicity turned and reentered her office. She
hoped that she hadn't scared him away, but right now she needed to free herself
of bureaucracy so that she could focus on upcoming Medical Department issues
during the next mission. She was keen to the fact that the Ensigns that would
be joining the department would need guidance and patience.

He decided to look around the medical bay for a bit. He explored the
various areas she had indicated. Once he had satisfied his need to find out
where everything was kept, he left. He decided to go down to Forensics and see
what there was down there. It was going to be an interesting new adventure
he thought.
