Waking the Avalon - Part  7
930 hours = Captain's Ready Room = USS Avalon 
Keith sat in his ready room.  The Cochrane Institute investigation was  
complete.  After the quick impromptu work that was done from  the the USS 
Horizon, 
the computer system provided information that the  event was caused by a 
overload of the system, and not by terrorists that was  originally thought.  
 
He read the report that the teams provided, and those from the USS  Horizon.  
He was satisfied with the response by the Starfleet teams, and  ordered the 
investigation closed.
 
Calling upon the bridge, he ordered the USS Avalon to Starbase 17.   That is 
when the bridge alerted "Admiral, we have a message coming in for  you.  
Sending through now."
Keith brought up the message and read.... 
"To: Fleet Admiral Keith Ketchum, USS Avalon 
From: Fleet Admiral Jack J Taggert, Vega Prime Research  Facility" 
He saw Taggerts name, and shook his head.  He didn't care for the  man, but 
knew that it must be some mess that Taggert got into, and he needed him  to get 
the situation under control.  Continuing to read. 
"Ten days ago a runabout, the SS Starburst, was stolen  from the Vega Prime 
Research facility. This vessel contained six bio-weapon  prototypes, two 
incomplete prototypes and two cryo-tanks containing  irreplaceable experimental 
research samples. Your mission is to retrieve the  ship and it’s contents. You 
are 
to ensure that the incomplete prototypes and the  cryo-tanks are retrieved 
intact and unmolested. You are to attempt to retrieve  the active prototypes as 
well. However, if you find that you cannot retrieve the  six active 
bio-weapons without undue interaction, you are to destroy them. Do  NOT 
interact with 
them. These weapons were created Vega Prime by the top team of  bio-genetic 
engineers. They are designed to appear innocuous. Do not be  deceived. You're 
to 
go in with weapons and shields prepared for the possibility  of open 
hostilities. Those who stole those prototypes may well use them against  you so 
make 
sure your defenses are at maximum. The last known coordinates of the  runabout 
are attached to this message. Be advised that the SS Renaissance was  lost in 
the vicinity as well. Secondary to your recovery mission is the search  and 
rescue of any and all Renaissance survivors." 

Typical he thought, cleaning up a real  mess.
 
"Bridge, sending you a set of  coordinates, best possible speed, Shields at 
max, weapons are to be armed." 
 
"Coordinates received, laying in  course."
 
Keith reached over to open a comm  ship-wide, "Ten days ago a runabout was 
stolen, we are to retrieve it with  all due care and it's contents untouched.  
I 
expect the best response from  the crew.  Ketchum out."
