<USS Avalon> Waiting? Boardings? and No Where To Go

Waiting? Boardings? and No Where To Go

By Captain Keith Ketchum, Senior Lieutenant Commander Anthony Shimbrodus,
Senior Lieutenant Alder Shimbrodus, and Ensign Mary O'Donnell

"Status?" Keith had watched the shuttle enter the wormhole, but it had been in
there longer than necessary.

"No information, Captain", responded a voice behind him.

Moving to the edge of his seat, he waited patiently for something. Putting his
fingers to his forehead, he rubbed, looking away from the screen.

The console began bleeping. Multiple trips in the Avalon's sensor systems began
to set off at an alarming rate, Alder tried to set them down, it wouldn't do
any good to have so many bleeps, "Captain, we have a ship on intercept course
with us, it's signature is unknown. It may be Maquis."

"Raise Shields, Red Alert. Hail the vessel."

"Aye, hailing now." Moments passed, "No response."

"Tactical, fire a shot in front of them, to warn them", Keith heard the phasers
fire, "Status of the ship?"

"Still heading right for us, appears they are going to ram. But they have
nothing on our shields."

"That may be true, but the ship may be upgraded with stuff from the future.
Monitor it."

The ship came right at the Avalon, but went right through the shields, and
stopped on what was described as an old small Terran coin used for financial
exchange.

"They are through the shields, I am reading multiple beam in points," Alder
said with a worried tone. There were coming in from decks three to eight, ten
through fourteen and spreading quick.

"Intruder Alert. Raise force fields around the areas affected."

"No effect. They appear to be moving through out the ship, twenty intruders."

"Computer, activate 'No Where' protocol. Computer, alert Commander Shimbrodus.
Ms O'Donnell, you are with me."

Checking her weapons Mary readied herself to follow the Captain. 'No Where'
protocol?

The computer was quick to reply, "No Where protocol activated", The Captain
knew that his and Anthony's biosigns have been removed from system and their
comm-badges had been removed from detection. "Alder, you have the Main Bridge.
Skyler is on the Battle Bridge." The Captain stood and walked swiftly into
the Commander's ready room, with Ensign O'Donnell.

He didn't want to say anything until they entered and the door shut behind
them. "Follow me, and stay close, Ensign, we have a ways to go, but at least
we get to ride." He walked to the doorway to the ramp to deck two, but halfway
down the ramp, he tapped into a hidden panel, and you could hear the door open
behind it, but it still looked like a wall panel.

Walking through the holo-wall, he was sure that Mary was dumbfounded. Reaching
his hand back out, he motioned her in.

Once inside, it appeared to be a mini-turbolift, "No Where", Keith spoke. The
lift itself only could fit three people and that would have been tight. "I
hope you are not claustrophobic, Ensign." The lift seemed to go forever, down,
across, up, across again. It seemed like several minutes and finally it
stopped, and the door opened. Outside of the door was another wall. Keith
tapped into the control panel, and the lift rotated around, and you could see a
room, which basically was an office and a couple bedrooms. Stepping out, Keith
stepped through another holo-wall into the room. Waiting for Mary to join him,
he then tapped a hidden panel, and the lift closed.

Taking a seat behind the desk, "Computer, location of Commander Shimbrodus?"

"Commander Anthony Shimbrodus is not on board the Avalon."

"Computer, location of Captain Keith Ketchum."

Again the computer replied, "Captain Keith Ketchum is not on board the Avalon."

"Computer, location of Ensign Mary O'Donnell."

"Ensign Mary O'Donnell is... unable to comply... please restate query."

"Pardon? Abduction by the Captain isn't exactly something I'd planned on Sir."

Keith smiled, "Abduction, no, Security detail, yes." The room was secure, now
he had to wait for Anthony to arrive. But in the meantime, "Computer, activate
surveillance viewscreen, provide rotating through locations throughout the
ship." A screen appeared on a wall in front of the desk, he image was broken
into sixteen distinct areas. He scanned them. "Computer, lock in bridge and
Battle Bridge into regions 1 and 2, Engineering into 3 and 4, rotate the
remainder for points throughout the ship. Computer, also activate viewscreen
as seen from the bridge. Open monitoring point to Main Bridge and Battle
Bridge." A screen behind the desk activated showing outside, also he heard
what was going on, on both levels.

"Might as well, have a seat, Ensign, this part of the ship is not on any
schematics. It is declared Level Black, ultra top secret. You have a distinct
privilege to see it. Now, where is Anthony?"

Looking around at the setup of this room astounded her. How do you put
something like this into a starship without it being noticed?

Turning to her superior, she saw her knuckles had turned white as she gripped
the phaser rifle. Her jade eyes flashed with anger. "What is this place? And
now I've got time alone with you, why am I on board your ship? I'm assuming you
know, even if Commander Sierra didn't."

"This place, as you put it, is a secret command location. 'No Where Protocol'
allows myself and whoever was pre-designated, which at this point is Commander
Shimbrodus, to be 'removed' from the computer tracking and to set up the
command post in this room when the ship is boarded as it was. And as to why
you are on this ship, Ensign, you were 'chosen', and beyond that, we'll have to
talk later, ok?"

It was only a few handfuls of minutes later that Anthony appeared. His demeanor
serious and cut to the point look showed, adding to his hand already gripping a
phaser, "Security teams have been sent to deal with the intruders. I was
delayed with several of the renegades. They put quite a fight. And they've
already taken deck six. It's been evacuated.

"Deck six, nothing overly important on that deck, holodecks, enlisted crew, the
lounge and dining." He sat back in his chair, pondering the next step.

"But that leaves Deck Five and Seven to maintain, and if we can't stop them,"
Anthony didn't continue with the 'what ifs'. Placing his phaser down he went by
the console, checking on the surveillance as well as sending out a message to
Alder. He frowned at the response Alder gave and Anthony became a little quiet
in his tone, "Deck five has been taken. Deck six has been deserted. Alder
reports that they're advancing. Security teams are being sent, the bridge crew
has armed themselves."

Maybe it was the thought that Alder was up there and here he was hiding in some
secret office. They understood the risk of being together with their line of
work, but it didn't make the feeling any less noticeable. Anthony looked
worried; inside he wanted nothing more than to be on the bridge- just to see
Alder safe.

Mary relaxed her grip on the rifle slightly to prevent her fingers cramping.
?As we're dealing with future technology, containment is going to be a problem
Sirs. The various teams will have to be isolated somehow, and each dealt with
individually.?

Keith hoped that the outside world was dealing with them, he hated to hide in
this room, but on extreme boarding like this, he had to run it from somewhere.
