<USS Avalon> "Unraveling the Truth" by Cazook and Marksbury

"Unraveling the Truth"
written by:
Dr. Alexis Cazook and Jr. Lt. Elissabeth Marksbury

"Oh, dear," Cazook said, at the sight of Lissi hugging the trash can. Wetting
a cloth, she handed it to Lissi and helped her to her feet.

"Thanks," Lissi told her, wiping her mouth.

"What happened? Are you ill?"

"No, I don't think so. Images just started flashing in my head and it made me
nauseous, that's all." Lissi smiled weakly, "At least I can remember things
now. Sorta. Well, it's all rather jumbled."

"What do you remember exactly?" Cazook asked, trying not to let her
apprehension show. She was running the tricorder over Lissi, examining her
results. Sure enough, her brain patterns had changed. Lissi was definitely
remembering things. What made Cazook nervous though was wondering which set of
memories had returned to her head.

Lissi needed some time to process all the information. Her Intel training made
her wary of anyone asking questions, of revealing too much information. It was
something between her and her superiors, not a doctor. If she was physically
alright, she saw no point in telling the doctor anything. "Some names and
faces, mostly," Lissi vaguely told her. "I'm sure more will come back with
time. I think I would like to lie down, though. May I go?"

What was Cazook to do? She couldn't ask too many questions without seeming
suspicious, especially with this girl according to the records. Apparently she
was very quick and analytical.

"You remember your name and your duties?" Cazook asked. That was definitely a
question within reason.

"Elissabeth Marksbury, Jr. Lt.," Lissi told her, knowing that was who she was
on this ship. She wasn't quite sure who she was to Intel, but at least she had
a starting place. "I work security under Commander Sierra. And I have a
headache. Please let me go."

"Very well," Cazook told her. "I see know reason why you can't return to duty
tomorrow, well, next rotation, I mean. This lack of night and day plum has me
all confused," she laughed.

Lissi was not in the mood to be polite. Too much had happened and she had
thrown up, which always put her in a foul mood.

"I'll send word to Commander Sierra that you will return to duty. You can go,"
Cazook told her.

Lissi hopped off the table and exited sickbay as quickly as possible. She
needed another shower and to brush her teeth before Lt. Maturin called again.
Boy, did they have a lot to talk about.
