<USS Avalon> USS Avalon: An Angel or The Devil - Part 4

An Angel or The Devil - Part 4
By Fleet Captain Marc Offenburger and Senior Lieutenant Karg White Feather

They walked to the Fleet Captain's quarters and entered, the room appeared as
a villa in the city of Rome. "Drink, Senior Lieutenant?"

"So let me guess Fleet Captain. You want me to be your man on the Avalon.
What I have to decide is exactly where this Section 31 man or woman is, on the
Avalon or right in front of me. Considering the assistants you use, sir, so far
you haven't been very convincing."

"Ah, yes, my assistants, well ... you see, the ones that you met were merely
holograms. As for Section 31, I cannot confirm that there is an agent on the
Avalon, that's what I would like you to do."

"Well, Fleet Captain, provided that I believe you, there are a few things
that I will need. First is a set of orders somewhere because I could get
court-martialed for what I might have to do. Then I'll need the highest
security
clearance there is in addition to my own because who would believe a Tactical
Officer would have such a high clearance?"

Marc sized the Klingon up, "Now, Senior Lieutenant, I asked if you'd like a
drink?"

"A glass of 'Dom.' would be nice, sir?"

"Excellent choice", as a Yeoman entered carrying a tray with a bottle and two
glasses.

The Yeoman opened the bottle carefully and poured two glasses. Once he had
done so, he handed a glass to the Fleet Captain and then to the Senior
Lieutenant, and then quickly left.

Marc raised his glass to make a toast, "To the beginning."

"Qapla", Karg responded and they both drank.

"You will have your orders, Mr. White Feather", Marc paused as if making a
final decision, "and the security clearance that you will have will be just
below mine."

"Here's hoping that will get me where I need to go, thank you, Sir."

"Don't thank me yet, this is only the start. Now, I think it is time that we
got you back to your ship, Ms. Kira is probably worried about you."

"There is no doubt of that sir."

"Now if you please stand, we'll get you back", Marc touched the desk,
"Ensign, please send Mr. White Feather back to Sick Bay on the Avalon."

"Aye, Captain", came the reply.

"Good Luck, Senior Lieutenant", and with that Karg was back on the Avalon.
