<USS Avalon> "Trouble With Marksbury" Lt. Maturin and Admiral Pew

"Trouble With Marksbury"
By: Lieutenant James Maturin and Admiral Mordecai Pew

"Enter," Admiral Mordecai Pew stated as he read from one of the many PADD's
stacked upon his desk. "Lt. Maturin, what can I do for you?" he asked, a bit
annoyed at the intrusion, as James stepped into the room.

"I'm sorry to bother you, sir, but I thought you should know that Lt. Marksbury
has not reported as ordered."

"Indeed?" The Admiral asked, eyebrows raised. He then understood why Maturin
had felt the need to come straight to him.

"No, sir. Her report was due 48 hours ago. I have attempted to contact her
three times with no response. It is highly unlike her to be tardy. Is there a
problem I should know about?"

"If there was a problem you should know about, then you would know," the
Admiral spoke a little crossly. It had been a long day with even longer
demands. He took a deep breath, realising how short he sounded, before
continuing. "But not likely, Lt. I'm sure there is a very reasonable
explanation, though this does raise some concerns. I'll see what I can find
out. Dismissed."

As the Lt. left, Pew ran his hand over his eyes and massaged his temples.
Perhaps Maturin wasn't the best choice for this assignment, being too
personally involved. It did bother him, however, that Marksbury had not
reported. It was unlikely and piqued his curiosity enough to contact Keith
Ketchum on Star Base 12. If anyone would have inside information on the Avalon
and his new recruit, Lt. Marksbury, it would be Ketchum.

Pew turned to his console to establish a connection with Ketchum.
