<USS Avalon> Thoughts and Roses

Thoughts and Roses
By Captain Keith Ketchum

Ketchum sat in his office, and checked the reports. The ship was heading
away from the Neutral Zone. The Romulans had not responded to the
communication, and he was waiting to hear from someone at command about the
finalization of
the request from the Romulan for asylum.

His mind wandered again to the thoughts of the previous night and the dinner
with Ms. Davis, he tried to be hospitable, but she seemed a tad pushy, or was
that his imagination. He had a lot on his mind recently. Attacks on Ferengi,
death of crew member, and a JAG inquiry. Something that an inexperienced
Captain would have problems with, but he had been around for a while, so he
should be able to handle it.

If push came to shove, this could end up before the Federation Council, and
he knew that the only vote on his side would be that of his father, Dawson, who
would have to abstain due to his closeness. But he could council him on the
case, and present his side, if necessary.

Coming back to that day, he checked the star charts, he sent a command to the
bridge to put them in orbit of Freesia IV and alert him when they were there.
Next he sent an order to a store he knew about on the planet, and waited.
Then he called down to Petty Officer Franshecha to come by for a delivery, when
they arrived.

Finally, a message came up that the order was received for two dozen roses,
color salmon; inquiring what he would like to have put on the card. He sent
back, "For the other evening, I am truly sorry for my actions. Perhaps we can
start over." He left the message unsigned.

About an hour later, the ship arrived, and the item was beamed directly to
his quarters, they were stunning. He called up the Petty Officer to deliver
them.

"Take them to Ms. Davis' office, and just deliver, do not divuldge who they
are from", he advised when the Petty Officer arrived.

The Petty Officer nodded, "Of course, Captain." Taking the roses, he walked
out.

Now to see what could be done about the Romulan. "Bridge, continue on our
course, before the diversion."
