The Wedding

Dressed in his white captains dress uniform, Keith walked into the holodeck. 
  It was set to appear as a park setting.   Chairs were setup on either side 
of a main aisle.

Skyler entered the holodeck and paused just inside the door, hesitating.   
Beside her, Dr. Moreya smiled.   The Deltan was dressed in a gown that was 
made 
of many layers of a light, gauzy material.   Each layer was a different shade, 
from a pale pink to a deep, vibrant red.   A large braided garland of flowers 
rested around her hairless head.

"This is what you have wanted, waited for, looked for, your entire life," she 
said softly to Skyler, smiling broadly.   "Come on.   Now's not the time to 
get cold feet, as the Terrans say."  She patted Skyler's shoulder, and the 
bride could feel all the warmth, love and encouragement her friend was offering.


Keith waited at the floral arch for Skyler to make her way up the aisle.   
Once she reached the front he began, “All the colors of the rainbow… All 
the 
voices of the wind… Every dream that reaches out, that reaches out to find 
where 
love begins… Every word of every story… Every star in every sky… Every 
corner of creation lives to testify… For as long as I shall live, I will 
testify to 
love.” "Dearly Beloved: We are gathered here, in the presence of God and of 
this company, that Skyler and Mehdi may be united in holy matrimony. We are 
here to celebrate and share in the glorious act - the act by which He converts 
their love for one another into the holy and sacred estate of marriage.”



They walked up the aisle.   When they reached Keith standing at the end, 
Moreya knelt and straightened up the train of her friend's gown.   "Go get 
'em, 
dear one," she whispered.

As Skyler walked down the aisle she could see Mehdi standing at the alter in 
his dress uniform and realized how beautiful he looked. CmdrSkyler: She knew 
that this was the right thing to do and she couldn't imagine being anywhere 
else.

Georgia was standing at the alter in the bridesmaid position having finally 
given her blessing. It took some time but she finally came to realize that 
Mehdi really did care for Skyler and that Skyler was happier then she had ever 
been before. Moreya stood next to Georgia and they both tried to hold back 
tears 
as the wedding proceeded.

Mehdi stood than a fairy tale come true ... this was absolute paradise. at 
the altar barely able to believe his wonderful luck.How the fates had managed 
to 
cast him this way, in this life, to thi destiny, that of wedded bliss with 
the woman of his dreams.  It was more. 

"You're a lucky man, Mehdi me boy," murmured Sean O'Reilly, his best man. 
"You have the gift o'the gab as tho' ye'd visited Castle Blarney an' kissed the 
Stone itself. An' the veritable luck o'the Irish."Idrys chuckled. "Maybe so, 
Sean ... I do hope so. She is so wonderful, my everything." He smiled.


Keith continued, ““This relationship is an honorable and sacred one, and it 
rests upon the mutual confidence and devotion of husband and wife.   May it be 
in extreme thoughtfulness and reverence, and in dependence upon divine 
guidance, that you enter now into this holy relationship." 

Mehdi looked over at Skyler. He knew, now more than ever, that he wanted 
this. These words that he was listening to were better than any he could come 
up 
with. Were Skyler to have ever doubted why he wanted to marry
her instead of just live with her, what Ketchum was saying now would have 
sufficed as an eloquent answer, far better than any weak words he might have 
been 
able to muster at the time. He was a lucky man indeed.

“Mehdi will you take Skyler to be your lawful wife, will you love her, honor 
and keep her in sickness and in health and forsaking all others keep only unto 
her so long as you both shall  live.” 

He nodded. "I do ... now, forever and a day." He smiled and squeezed her hand 
tightly.

 “Skyler will you take Mehdi to be your lawful husband, will you love her, 
honor and keep her in sickness and in health and forsaking all others keep only 
unto her so long as you both shall live.

Skyler looked at Mehdi for just a brief moment and could see the tears 
welling up in his eyes. "Yes, Of course I will. Now and Forever!"

 “Mehdi what symbol do you have as a pledge of these vows?”

He turned to O'Reilly who handed him a golden ring with a diamond

“Mehdi what symbol do you have as a pledge of these vows?”

The ring is presented.   “As you place this ring, a visible sign of your 
commitment in marriage, on the third finger of Skyler’s left hand, repeat 
after 
me: Skyler, we will wear these rings, and the world will know that I am yours 
and you are mine.”

“Skyler, we will wear these rings, and the world will know that I am yours 
and you are mine.” 

“Skyler what symbol do you have as a pledge of these vows?”

Skyler turns to Moreya, who hands her a golden band with the words "Now and 
Forever" engraved on the inside, to Ketchum.

The ring is presented.   “As you place this ring, a visible sign of your 
commitment in marriage, on the third finger of Mehdi’s left hand, repeat 
after me: 
Mehdi, we will wear these rings, and the world will know that I am yours and 
you are mine. 

“Mehdi, we will wear these rings, and the world will know that I am yours and 
you are mine.”

Skyler holds Mehdi's hands in hers and whispers that she loves
him. There are still tears of joy in her eyes. She looks up and Mehdi is also
tearing up.

“From the mountains to the valleys… From the rivers to the sea… Every 
Hand 
that reaches out… Every hand that reaches out to offer peace... Every simple 
act of mercy… Every step to kingdom come… All the hope in every heart will

“I now pronounce you, husband and wife”, leans towards Mehdi, “You may 
kiss 
the bride.” 

Mehdi lifted Skyler's veil, took her in his arms and kissed her long and 
passionately. And he wished the kiss, like their love, would never, ever end. 
...

“Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to present to you for the
first time, Mehdi and Skyler Idrys.”
