<USS Avalon> The Tempest

(I apologize to the crew that I have placed on the bridge during this time,
feel free to shoot me with a phaser later, if you'd like. But the idea came to
me, and I wanted to get it out. This is the final part of the 5 'weather'
logs that some of you heard mention of... hopefully it will move our story
along.)

The Tempest
By Captain Keith Ketchum

Keith sat in his chair on the bridge. Options had been provided for tactical
response, science ideas to get back home, and the engines were almost ready
to come back online.

His hour was running down, he knew that. He wanted to await the return of
his Commanders back to the bridge, but felt that time was not a virtue in this
circumstance.

“Mr. Manson, prepare your tactical response, Zero degree multi vector spread,
fire at any vessel contact.”

“Ms. Waterson, lay in a course, down pitch fifteen degrees, and then turn us
towards Sector 002, Vulcan.”

“Mr. White Feather, prepare the cloak when we are clear of this sector of
space.”

Opening a comm, “Mr. Bailey, on my mark, I need full power to the engines.
This has to be perfect people.”

He nodded to Alder who was using the Science console “Mr. Shimbrodus, open a
channel.”

“Channel open Captain”, as he tapped the console.

“This is Captain Keith Ketchum to the vessel that hailed us. We will not
surrender, and we will not give up without a fight.” He motioned to close
the
channel, and Alder closed the comm.

“Now!”

You could feel the engines come alive. The phasers erupted from the ship,
followed by a couple of torpedoes. The process was working. Phillipa
Waterson
engaged the engines, and the ship dove and then came up and banked.

Keith was sure that their attack came as a surprise to the ship that was
there. “Karg, now!”

Karg engaged the cloak.

“Ms Waterson, change course for the Talos Sector. Hopefully it is still
forbidden this timeframe.”

Captain Jeffery Schilling watched the Avalon make a run for it. “So they
think they will get away? Commander, pull up the ship codes of the USS Avalon
and load them into the Tempest’s system for ready activation. They will not
elude us.”

The Romulan commander started pulling in the necessary information. “Sir,
they appear on their last heading to be going towards Vulcan, but they engaged
their cloak. Even the ships of that time with cloaks are tough to locate.”

“Where would you go if you were out of time, and not sure who was following
you, knowing that you might be hunted by any number of ships that wanted to
kill you?”

“I wouldn’t go to Vulcan, in the heart of ‘their’ federation.
Especially
if I knew that I was being hunted. And since they don’t know the culture of
this timeframe, it would be tough to say”

“I agree.”
