The Shuttle
by Admiral Keith Ketchum and Commander Frankie Wilkinson
Silently the shuttle sped through space, Admiral Keith Ketchum and Commander
Frankie Wilkinson both sat looking out the front window.
After the briefing for his mission, Frankie sat quietly for ten minutes, and
then finally spoke, "Admiral, I have one question."
"Only one? I was sure you would have more. I know when I had a similar
type mission, I had tons of questions, but go ahead."
"Well, we will start with the one. Once I get there, how do I get back
again?"
"You will put the message in your logs and within a day, you'll have your
way home. Back here from when you left."
"Ok, I think I can handle this. And if I can't get him to come back with
me? What then?"
"He can't be left alive in that time. Changes have already occurred in the
time line, though minute, but they are getting worse. Most things aren't
noticable yet."
"I believe I understand."
"Good, if you succeed, I'm sure that a promotion to Captain will be in
order."
"Thank you, Admiral."
Checking the chronometer, "You had better change, we are close to the
rendezvous point."
The shuttle neared a lone asteroid. A scan of the shuttle had already been
done when they passed the detection grid.
Frankie headed to the back of the shuttle to change into an Earth Starfleet
blue uniform with the blue-green division trim and the lieutenant rank in
silver on his chest on the right. On his
The NX-05 Atlantis awaited him. He turned to the Admiral and nodded.
"Ready."
"Good luck then, and see you soon. Sooner for me, than for you." And with
that, Frankie was gone from the shuttle.
For Keith in what only seemed like a few minutes, Frankie reappeared, this
time with a new guest, this one also in the Earth Starfleet uniform and
blue-green division trim.
"Commander Benjamin Schill, it has been far too long."
Benjamin only glared at the Admiral.
