"The Great Escape"

       Skyler was going absolutely stir crazy just wandering the ship. It 
really wasn't going anywhere fast. In fact she doubted that if she took the 
shuttle that no one would even realize that she was gone. It was probably a 
good 
thing as she wasn't of much use to anyone at the moment.

       The ship was going no where fast so she thought that perhaps the 
Captain would allow her to take a shuttle for a few days to get away from all 
the 
madness and tension that you could cut with a knife. She found Keith in his 
office going over some PADD's.

       She entered her office and straightened her uniform and then spoke, 
"Excuse me sir, but, may I bother you for a moment?"

       Keith looked up from the PADD's on his desk, "Ahh.. Commander, just 
who I wanted to see.  You must be a mind reader."  
     
     "Why is there something I can do for you Sir?" 

     "I am? What did you want to see me for Captain?" Skyler had a feeling 
that she wasn't going to get to use the shuttle for a break away from everyone 
on the Avalon. She was trying to figure out what Keith wanted. Hopefully, she 
could help him out and she would allow her to take a shuttle out for a drive.

        "You first Commander.  Since you mentioned it first."  Keith thought 
for a moment on having Skyler take a shuttle out of the nebula and send a 
message to Starfleet Command, since there was so much interference in getting a 
stable message out.  

     "Well, Sir the reason I wanted to talk to you was because I was 
wondering if it would be feasible for me to borrow a shuttle for a few days? 
There is 
really nothing going on here at that moment, at least, not for me and I have 
some things I need to work out in my head. I would only be gone for a few days 
no more than a week at the most."

     Skyler waited for an answer, sure that Keith would say no. But if she 
didn't ask she would never know. She learned that a long time ago.

      "Actually the same thing, Commander, with all this interference we 
can't get a clear message to Starfleet Command."

       Skyler looked at Keith, "I could mix pleasure with business or vice 
versa. Depending on how you look at it. What do you need done?"

       "Just let Starfleet command know of the status... of the mission. I'm 
sure Captain Offenburger has much better equipment, but we should report in 
also."

       Skyler thought for a moment and gave her answer. "I can do that for 
you Captain as long as I can keep the shuttle for a few extra days?"  She 
desperately hoped he said yes.

       Keith winks at Skyler, "If you feel that the shuttle ride will do you 
good, then we'll see you in two days." 

        "Thank you sir. I will leave in approximately 2 hours. I will give 
the message to Mr. Offenburger and I am sure he will make sure it will get to 
the proper people. See you in a few days." Skyler turned and left the Captain's 
office and her step was a tad bit lighter then it had been. Skyler headed back 
to her quarters and make the necessary...........................
