"The Bond Between an Officer and a Ship"

         Skyler and Phillipa had left Idrys off at deck 14 to set up the 
auxiliary sickbay, while they returned to Deck 13 to set up the auxiliary 
bridge.  
Keith had spread the command personnel out so that each vital area of the 
ship was covered in case the Avalon were to be boarded. However, Skyler had 
faith 
that it wouldn't be. The crew was to good for that to happen. Yet she could 
understand his reasoning in wanting to spread everyone out. At least this way 
every area was covered.

         Once they reached deck 14, Phillipa immediately began running 
diagnostic's on the navigational arrays and helm controls. Skyler was amazed 
just 
watching her work that she was only an Ensign. She would have to talk to Keith 
about it later. It they survived this whole mess. Michaleson was on the main 
bridge with Cpt Ketchum. Skyler just hoped she was being as impressive as 
Phillipa. Skyler had also brought along Henderson to man the tactical console 
in 
case the Avalon would get boarded and we were just to going to make sure 
everything was in proper working condition.

         The first thing you noticed upon entering is how "empty" it felt and 
realizing that this could very well be your "final" view of the ship you had 
grown to love so much. To some people she was just a piece of metal molten 
down to pieces for repairs. Yet to you, she is a ship with "feelings," that 
will 
do whatever you ask of her without question. She is as close to perfect as 
they come. Yet some people would rather just let her be blown to bits, but now 
Skyler.  

         Skyler knew what the Avalon was capable of. They had been through so 
much together in the past year and three months that is was almost as if they 
had a bond of sorts. Skyler swore that there were times when she was covering 
the bridge that all she had to do was think something and the Avalon 
responded to this thought. It baffled Skyler and she was sure would baffle all 
the 
Docs around, which is why she tended to keep it to herself.

         Now here she was preparing another part of the same ship to function 
in the same manner in which the main bridge did. The ship itself was 
confused. Skyler could sense this, simply by listening to the engines and to 
the 
different sounds on the vessel. She tried to reassure the ship that things 
would 
work out and that neither the Avalon nor Skyler were going to let anything 
happen to any of them.......
